Let’s hope their new cars won’t take as many characteristics from the competition.

And how long until VAG buy this brand too, to turn it into another MQB brand, that’s only slightly different in appearance from VW MQB vehicles?

Sorry for the minor trolling, but I’m not in the best mood today.

Well, given that that’s a light update of the original Borgward logo and the Renault logo used to be very similar (a true diamond) but has diverged...

Kinja'd!!!

I think BMW and Borgward are only related insofar as Germans really like heraldry and flag-based devices...

It’s not like Borgward used this logo in some form or another for most of its existence.

They have a lot of PR crap on their website . But come on, all of that, ten years of planning and not even a sketch of their Frankfurt debut?

Their biggest problem at the moment is that the website is still in “investor packet” mode, not “attract end user” mode.

Makes sense. They don’t have a car yet.

Also, too bad they weren’t inspired enough to introduce their design language with a Vision GT concept, to familiarize enthusiasts with their brand.

They also launch in a bad time, in the middle of Alfa Romeo’s revival.

I don’t know that it’s *necessarily* a bad time - only time will tell. It depends a little on whether they’ll compete with Alfa directly, which might be more than selling things in the same categories. The public might have a limit for buying cars of novelty brands in general, but Alfa succeeding would be an indication of a swing in public tastes back toward variety. If the public craves variety at the right time *and* Borgward finds a niche, they might succeed for a while. Maybe. It’s a longshot, but it’s been done before, like Rambler in the US in the 60s.

Autonews said the Frankfurt model will be an SUV. Hard to see how that will raise eyebrows in this saturated crossover market. Also, they’re Germans, how far they can push the design before their Tectonic sense start buzzing and yelling halt!?
